Broken Friendship quotes from the first season of the Netflix hit series The Mindy Project.
The Mindy Show’s Mindy Kaling plays Mindy McLean, a former high school teacher turned TV personality who is diagnosed with cancer.
In the season two premiere, she is confronted with the reality of her illness, and learns that the cancer was spread by her friends.
On the show, the two main characters are Mindy’s best friend Mindy Stiller and her cancer-stricken ex-boyfriend Mindy Keating.
“Mindy, what’s wrong?” asks Keating, who is also a former teacher and now runs her own company.
Matter of fact, there’s a lot that’s been happening between Mindy and Keating over the past few seasons.
They’ve spent a lot of time together.
They’re also good friends.
In fact, the showrunners said that Mindy, Stiller, and Keater have spent a total of 22 episodes together.
Mindy talks about being diagnosed with a terminal illness on The Mindies Facebook page in season two, as well as on her Instagram and Twitter accounts.
It’s been an incredibly crazy time.
I’ve gotten to meet the world, meet so many amazing people.
And of course, the cancer diagnosis was a huge turnoff.
I thought to myself, what if they could have just left me alone?
So I got on the phone with my doctors and my family and they all agreed.
So I was like, I need to make some phone calls, and they said, ‘What if we just call you every day?’
I said, what?!
I don’t know how to say this, but I said I was dying, and I had to call my family.
I thought it would be better if they just took me off their phones, so I went back and forth.
And that was the best thing I ever did.
But after they called me back, they said I needed to be in the hospital.
So that was just crazy.
I’m not a doctor, I’m just a person, and that was very hard.
But I have to thank them for the help.
My husband and I, we have two kids and one grandchild, and we have to take care of each other and that’s where I come in.
So, I have the support and I have so many other amazing friends, and to be able to say, ‘We love you, and it’s our job to love you,’ I’m so thankful for that.
There was a time when we would have done everything in our power to say ‘You’re not alone’ but then they would go, ‘No, no, we can’t do that, we need to get you out of here.
But we can do everything in their power to help you.’
I think it’s been really important for us.
I think the show has really helped us.
It’s helped me to be strong.
And I think that’s why I’m writing a book.
I want to tell my story.
I feel like there’s so much I could say about it, and if I can talk about it with people, they can really understand how important it is for me to get cancer out.
