Italy 1-1 Belgium: A friendly win in Brussels is the best news for France

1.30pm: Italy 1, Belgium 0 – A friendly victory in Brussels sees the Serie A side beat Belgium 3-2.

Goalkeeper Leonardo Bonucci has kept his side in the match, while goalkeeper Matteo Lippi also has a clean sheet.

The hosts took a 3-0 lead after 28 minutes after Alessandro Giammarco struck a volley from outside the area, before substitute Fabrizio Gaudiani’s cross found the bottom corner.

The Italian side were ahead after 30 minutes through Mario Pasquali, who had a shot blocked by Bonucci, but Simone Pepe made amends by converting a penalty.

The game was not without some controversy, with the hosts having to be restrained by Belgian fans in the first half.

The Belgian fans chanted “fuck the players”, while Italy fans threw stones and used water cannons at the Italians.

Italy have a win to make up, and have not conceded in five matches.
